The inclusion of the owl, or tecolote, refers to the sacredness associated with animals that inhabit the mountains. In this case, the tecolote has an ambivalent meaning: positive and negative. It is part of rituals, mainly in magical and secret practices such as witchcraft and sorcery. The Sikuames (witches) are the ones who perform these tasks and choose to transform themselves into owls to go to caves to make certain requests and commune with the presence of spirits or supernatural beings.
