'A Defect of Colour', a group exhibition curated by Amanda Bonan, Marcelo Campos and Ana Maria Goncalves, including work by Leone Raphael Agebodjelou.
A historiographical review of slavery addressing struggles, social and cultural contexts of the 19th century. Um Defeito de Cor is an interpretation of the book of the same name by the Minas Gerais writer and exhibition curator Ana Maria Gonçalves, which tells the saga of an African woman, named Kehinde, who, in Brazil, needs to fight for her freedom and rebuild her life.
In all, there are 400 works of art including drawings, paintings, videos, sculptures and installations by more than 100 artists from locations such as Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, Maranhão and even from the African continent, mostly black men and women, mainly women. In addition, the exhibition has unpublished works by Kwaku Ananse Kintê, Kika Carvalho, Antonio Oloxedê, Goya Lopes, produced especially to honor the book.
