While preparing a piece about sex work as a journalist, Hayoun met a porn star who he went on to befriend. One year, they spent a stark and lonely Christmas together in Los Angeles, also the world capital of porn. Without directly touching on that experience, Hayoun’s painting asks complex questions about sex work as well as the simultaneous whimsy and isolation of life under capitalism.
